Two works differentiated but connected. Placed in the same park, in Joaquín Loriga's natal locality, Prado. Joaquín Loriga is one of the Illustrious person of Lalín and he was born in “Liñares” Maihouse, situated near to this park.
Military man of the air army, as we can see because of uniform that he wears in this bust. He was responsible for realizing the test flight of the autogiro of “Juan de Lana Cierva” in 1926. Little later, in the same year, he took on greatest adventure of his life, together with other two pilots, “Gallarza” and “Estevez” and “Pérez”mechanics .
They crossed more than 18.000 kilometres between Madrid and Manila, on board of two Breguet 19, in sixteen stages for thirty eight days. This journey is reflected in another sculpture of the park, in which we can see the world with the route, all on a great stony disc.
In 1927 Joaquín Loriga died in a plane crash in “Cuatro Vientos” airport, in Madrid.
