In the centre of a fountain with triangular base and rounded corners, on a rock in which water come out, a pair of rampant horses are placed. The author use to work with a minimal support in his sculptures, in order to pretend that they are separated from de ground. With this object, helped with an exaggerated anatomy, each horse is only supported in one of its back legs, except one of them that has also the tail planted firmly in the rock.
One of the equines rises totally its body, curling its neck and head backward in a form that shows verticality. The other horse put a front leg on partner´s hunchbacked. Although the sculpture title and horse positions show us we are in front of a fight, sometimes it reminds us of a dance.
These wild animals wave its bodies in an exhibition of force and clash, in the same line of “Plaza de España” work made by the sculptor, in Vigo. “Oliveira”, fascinated by the world of horses which he admires since he was young, make his passion into the principal theme of his work.
